My Life As A Cadet

It's Sunday and still dark outside, I woke up with a jolt, as if I had been dropped from a great height of mattress. I need to get ready for the cardiovascular, sweat-dripping activities awaiting in school. Suddenly, I realized that I'm running late...”Oh!Oh! Commence Exercise coming up! A piece of bread and a zip on a cup of coffee will satisfy my tummies' needs to survive the heat f the sun and prevent me in joining the group of the “falling men” (those people with the MEDICS). Shower for a short while to wake my nerves and now ready to put on my camouflage gala. The clock ticks at 7:45...Whaattt!!! I only have 15mins left to reach school and I found myself swinging the door open after bidding my mom goodbye. A 15min ride to the University of Sto.Tomas from Diliman, Quezon City...”God thanks for the Sabbath Day, you spare me from traffic again!ü” “Manong, first gate lang po!(the gate near the overpass' closed as usual)”. Entering the training zone, Whew! Relieved! Just right on time! Join the ranks of the 2nd Brigade, Foxtrot Company, 1st Platoon...45°, Banana Concept, Tiger Look! And the rest is history... Oh well, we only have a few hours left before 1200H military time, we will kill the time without even knowing it and the “green class cards” will be passed in our hands to get signed. Yahoosh!!! It's dismissal time!ü On our way to the Powder Room to retouch ourselves and there we're heading our way home,,, Finally!ü

~Reflection~

The objectives of the Reserved Officers Training Corps commonly known as ROTC is very commendable. They see to it that cadets even the officers learn the true meaning of "Discipline". Even I who claims to be a stubborn trainee find them very spirit uplifting, I'm ashamed of myself. I learned to love ROTC, despite the fact that it gave me skin discoloration and a hurt tummy at times. The officers are the best and I would love to name names...starting with the Brigade Commander, Maam Dela Cruz (The Smiling Face), Maam So(our cute Company Commander that we miss so much), Maam Nubla(our very loving Platoon Leader), Maam De Guia(our jolly S.O.) and last but definitely not the least, Maam Arroco(The Chinita, Smiling Face). I promised that in the remaining Training Sundays, I will not absent myself and come late again. I will surely miss our dear ROTC, the 5th of March will surely be a tear-falling farewell affair. In this case, we will always find ourselves saying...."MUYLEAL HAIL GOLDEN CORE"!ü
